If anyone doubts that prisons in the USA are basically a corporate business at this point.

You took the words right out of my mouth ^

Cruel and unusual punishment?

A corporate business lmao. They’re not making a profit ffs. They’re trying to make up the cost to house, feed, and clothe these criminals since y’all decided that making prisoners work for their keep was ‘too mean UwU’.

These are not guests at a five star hotel. They’re people who’ve committed crimes. Prison is not supposed to be fun. It’s not supposed to be a swell place to hang out. It’s punishment. It’s supposed to suck. It’s supposed to make you not want to go back.

As long as they are getting the basic necessities (food, water, shelter, and medical care) I’ll reserve my sympathy for their victims.

You’re cruel and this is cruel

Sorry I don’t have a fuck ton of sympathy for rapists, murderers, and child molesters. Ooh, you have to pay 13 bucks for a 20 minute convo. Boo fucking hoo.

People have been maknig money off of services like this for years.

The prison-industrial complex has “industry” in the name for a reason. These are for-profit prison companies.

Do people actually think it costs $13 to make a damn video call?

You can skype that shit for free.

No. Their argument is that this money pays for housing, feeding, and clothing them.

Isn’t that what the tax dollars that are allocated to prisons supposed to do?

Yes. Obviously. Just pointing out that no one actually thought that it cost $13 to make a video call.
