When your history professor schools you in front of the entire world.

I would be pissed if I knew I was going to die in a war and people would claim I died to defend a piece of cloth and not the human beings who choose to kneel in front of it and their right to do so.

While I agree and support the protest, I really don’t understand the kneeling thing.

Like, kneeling is generally considered a pose of humility/submission, as the lady says. I’d have thought kneeling to the anthem/flag showed more respect than just standing to it.

As the history professor says, kneeling shows the power of humility. It’s a pose of submission that nonetheless expresses defiance. You are choosing not to salute the flag, in a way that is more humble than doing so, and when that makes people angry they look ridiculous for the reason you just said.
