Siberian tigers at a wildlife park in Beijing mauled a woman to death and wounded another as they stepped out of their vehicle during the safari, a Chinese state-run newspaper said. The incident took place Saturday at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife World.
While touring the safari park, one of the women left her car following an argument and as she spoke to someone in the car through the driver’s door, a tiger pounced on her, the Legal Evening News reported. A second woman who tried to help her companion was killed by another tiger that leapt at her. The video of the incident surfaced online, showing the tiger pouncing on the first woman, dragging her out of view of the camera.
According to reports, both women ignored repeated warnings to stay inside the vehicle. The attack was confirmed by the Yanqing district government in an official microblog post, which also said that the injured woman was receiving treatment.
